Okay, once and for all, the correct usage of the word “eh” in Canada:
In Canadian English, the word “eh” is applied to the end of statements with an upward inflection to transform the statement into a question - thus implying that a response, explanation, or action is expected.
In other words, it’s the difference between “I got a new bike.” and “I got a new bike and I want to politely encourage you to ask me more about it.”
And just because I think this requires explicit reiteration:
Contrary to popular (American) belief, no one actually says, “how’s it going, eh?” because “how’s it going?” is already a question.
