This is a photo taken on from my bedroom window last year on a crisp fall day in Kingston. That building is my college. If you look extremely closely, the buildings on the horizon that looks like it’s just next to the college are the Royal Military College barracks that I lived in during the summer of 2009.
You can’t see them in the picture, but all along that horizon are wind turbines that have red blinking lights at night.
I miss Kingston most in the fall. I miss the biting winds, the old limestone buildings, walking up Princess St, spending entire afternoons at the Starbucks above Indigo. I miss ordering pizza/Chinese/pad thai with my roommate every Thursday night. I miss my big black circle scarf and my red Olympic mittens and late nights spent in computer labs. I miss fur boots and going for long drives to deliver friends’ little brothers to hockey practice. I miss eating McDonalds in the truck overlooking the water. I miss sleeping in a OnePiece under four heavy blankets but keeping the window wide open because I like the smell of frost. I miss Tim Hortons.
